One of the few

Considering his age, it is unusual that Madisha Juwau, known as Theni, can read. He told me that he learned to read when he was working in Zimbabwe as a younger man. When he was a child, the nearest school was many miles away. Today there is a school in the village and all the kids are learning to read.

Luxury kitchen in the middle of nowhere

It might be hard to appreciate just how luxurious this kitchen is. But it is full of pots, utensils, and containers of food. And there is even a sink with running water. Certainly in this African village there is nothing else like it. The little box on the left is a fridge that runs on propane.

Afri-Ker Homeschool in Dinthi

Squeezing a school into a 2-bedroom house isn't easy. Ellie and Andrew sit at this table in their bedroom. Henry studies at another desk in his parents' room. Benjamin studies at the dining table.

Mozambican Beauty
